Behavior
Students should observe the following behavior guidelines while in the Media Center:
- The same school rules apply to the Media Center as in the classroom.
- Be considerate of others who are working. When others are waiting, limit time using resources.
- Use a quiet voice.
- No eating or possession of open food, candy, gum, or drinks.
- Show care when using all library resources.
- Place chairs under tables before leaving.
- Computers are for only completing classroom assignments. No playing games!
Checkout
Checkout period for
- Books: Three weeks, most may be renewed once
- “Popular” books: One week
- Select reference: Overnight
- Reserve: Determined by teacher who placed materials on reserve
- Magazines: Overnight
Book Return
Students must return books to the Center or place them in a book drop by the dates stamped on the date due slips. All students should return books on time.
Book return locations:
- Media Center
- Main hall, near Student Services
- 6th grade hall
Overdues and Fines
Books that are not returned by the due date are considered overdue, and fines will be charged on the following basis:
- Books: five ($.05) cents per school day
- Overnight materials: forty ($.40) cents per school day
Language Arts teachers will receive and post overdue notices regularly. Students should check notices and return overdue materials as quickly as possible so that they can clear their accounts at the circulation desk. Students will not be allowed to check out books if they have
- overdue materials or
- owe fines totaling one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) or more
